LORY / SOFTBILL / LOW IRON
Hemochromatosis, also known as Iron Storage Disease, is a metabolic disorder that causes an unusually large amount of iron to be accumulated in the body tissue. In lories, mynah's, and toucans, it is potentially lethal. Keep animal protein low, avoid ascorbic acid (found in citrus fruits), and feed a staple of lory-specific pellets and nectars.
